Vodka or vodka (in Russian: водка; Polish / Polish: wódka) is a popular distilled, colorless, almost tasteless drink with an alcohol content of 35-60%. Vodka is the national drink of Poland and Russia. The name vodka is the diminutive of water ("aguinha") in several Slavic languages, yet it is not certain of the etymological origin, which could be only one coincidence. In any case, the most recent studies indicate that the word wódka (gorzałka, originally) was first used in Polish texts, the oldest being dated 1643 and entered the other languages of the world as the word of Polish origin.
